And countless numbers of totally unsolicited feedback stating that this is a most delicious, classy and brilliant product. I am beyond grateful for the local and Canada-wide support.
The requests for donations are ever increasing for sure! If they are for an office party, why are they not purchasing them? I have donated for silent auctions for fundraisers when people have been affected by disasters or medical costs they are not able to cover or unable to work due to...

The requests for donations are ever increasing for sure! If they are for an office party, why are they not purchasing them? I have donated for silent auctions for fundraisers when people have been affected by disasters or medical costs they are not able to cover or unable to work due to personal negative situations. Or occasionally I donate to 4-H clubs, etc. But for people who just want you to share your profits so they can have an office party, is another thing.
My responses, if not wanting to donate, are either: (1) I can offer at wholesale price or slight discount on retail or (2) my marketing budget has been outlined for this year already and I am adhering fairly closely to it. Thank you for your interest.

I only offer samples during markets - then they are pre-packaged small portions. I do not charge for these. Othertimes, peope who might be interested in purchasing cakes on a regular basis or in volume to give out as their personal/corporate gifts, they usually order 1 of each of the 2 flavours...

Othertimes, peope who might be interested in purchasing cakes on a regular basis or in volume to give out as their personal/corporate gifts, they usually order 1 of each of the 2 flavours (paying full price for each) and decide if & what flavour they want to proceed with. I wish that others did not offer samples or tastings as frequently as they do as (1) cuts into our product & revenue and (2) becomes an expectation of some of the public to “get a sample”. Sorry, we’re not Costco! Still, as Alberta Whisky Cake is a luxury food item, priced at the higher end, the majority of people who this product appeals to are able & eager to purchase an entire cake and do their own “tasting”.

Being able to get this business off the ground and running all by myself (still only 1 employee, me), while working at a very demanding full-time job and playing regularly in a band. As I didn’t have the luxury of time, money or energy to devote just to this specialty cake business, I developed a number of processes that are still extremely useful, 8 years after founding this business.
Make them shareholders - even if only 1 share. Then they’re part owners. My business has 1000 shares, with me holding 500, husband has 498, and each of our sons have 1 share each.

I would speak privately & directly with the owner/manager, as opposed to posting an online review. I feel it is unfair, unkind & disrespectful to ‘go public’ when you haven’t taken the initiative to have the issue addressed privately first. Treat others as you would want to be treated, with class.

Thank her for taking the time to provide you with this feedback, as this is how you continually become even better & better - by using valuable insights into continuous quality improvements. And that based on her comments, you will be more urging of orders to be placed after people order in person and see what an actual 6” & 8” tier size looks like and to confirm the colour. And that even though the wedding is now over, how can you reduce her aggravation. (She will most likely not have any suggestions but this response indicates to her/viewers (1) you heard her, (2) you are interested in continually improving, (3) you will change your present process (limit/eliminate phone orders) and (4) you are open to alleviating some of her distress). And, don’t worry about a neg review or 2 - shows authenticity, as “perfection” can look staged.
