As you can imagine, being in the travel and tourism business, we are in the crosshairs right now, and it's very difficult to keep up with the insanity that has developed from the fear of this outbreak.  The fear is the real pandemic, and it has already infected all of us - so much, that companies and entities have NO CHOICE but to react, or else look irresponsible.  This will pass - in fact, past patterns show that it will be gone by the late spring - but people are preparing like they would be for nuclear war right now.  I pray that everyone can take a few minutes to think rationally, have a plan for how to behave to avoid the NORMAL flu and cold viruses that are a lot more prevalent out there, and just take care of their family.  But - if you have a vacation planned for the summertime, don't panic - you're going to be fine.  This is not the Black Plague.  Cheers, David

The pandemic is real. Your comments dismiss the actual danger of this. It isn't the flu. It doesn't behave like the flu. https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-act-...

More people are dying from the flu than this new strain of coronavirus. It has been around and we have survived it in the past. If we continue to be safe and clean, we will be alright. Panic is the worst enemy we have.

I have been arranging group tours for more than 30 years and this virus is not a hoax, and the macro reactions by countries are not over reactions. This virus does not yet have a vaccine and is 10 times more lethal than the flu. In addition, a person can be infected for 5 - 10 days before they manifest any symptoms - so someone looking perfectly healthy can actually be infected and contagious. These factors and the fact that those 60+ are the most susceptible should put great concern into all of us. Imagine if an infected individual who looks healthy were to visit his mother at a seniors home or a hospital and one resident becomes infected. That person may take another 5 days before they manifest symptoms and in the interim can infect 10 others. One other factor is that young kids seem to have a very mild reaction to the virus, but they do get infected and can pass the virus to to others - that is why schools are closed. Imagine a young child has the mild form of the virus and passes it to his classmates and family. Just look at New Rochelle, NY. Countries are taking quick drastic steps to stop the spread of the virus by closing their borders and putting their people in self-quarantine. Italy has put their entire 60 million person population on quarantine and just yesterday Argentina banned tourists from the US, England and several other "infected" countries from entering their country. If you arrive and have been in any of those countries within the last 14 days, you will be quarantined for a mandatory 14 days. This is no joke and this is not like the regular flu. Keep calm, but do your part in not spreading this virus.
