I am a Certified Master Home Inspector, we perform residential and commercial inspections. Our main areas of coverage are Belwood, Fergus, Guelph, Milton, Cambridge, Waterloo, Kitchener. We do go outside those areas and have performed inspections as far north as Owen Sound.
Educated, Insured and Trusted, I perform inspections all over Ontario. Co-Founder of Ontarioachi Home Inspector Association brings me in touch daily with the Real Estate world.
National certificate Holder, Registered Home Inspector, Canadian Certified Home Inspector are some of my accreditations.
Iac2 Certified for Mold, Radon and Asbestos testing.
How We Got Started
I owned my own renovation company in Burlington Ontario. After seeing countless poor renovations/repairs, I decided that I wanted to help people. Those are the people without the skills necessary to recognize the problems they may face in purchasing a home.

I would recommend that if you are still performing inspections that you check with your insurance carrier. I think that you will find that you are not covered for G/L, so if you perform an inspection and the homeowner or family member gets sick, loses their job or passes away, you will have no coverage if sued. Just my input on the situation. I have personally stopped doing Home Inspections but I have not left Realtors that use me high and dry. I have an associate that is providing services as an alternative inspector.
I do not wish to spread the disease or catch it and I feel this is my responsibility...

I do not wish to spread the disease or catch it and I feel this is my responsibility to manage and do my share.
I myself am in my 60's so I feel that I am at risk and have very young grandchildren.
We will get through this but to me, it is not a time to think about money but a time to think more about family.
We are not sick but we are staying put at home getting ready for Spring and hope all do the same. They have said not to get too anxious about this being over as they are predicting a second wave and we still haven't peaked yet.

As a home inspector, I keep hand sanitizer in my vehicle and wear nitrile gloves where possible during my inspections. I touch lots of things so I believe this is just being safe not a germaphobe.

The place to call before you buy is a licensed or certified home inspector. As a home inspector myself, I will also say check the home inspector out yourself as to education, insurance an association member and how long he/she has been in business. Don't rely on anybody else's opinion or...

I, for instance, will answer any question from a buyer before they even hire me or if they hire me. I just look at it as part of my service. A seasoned home inspector will usually answer any questions from a buyer, and educate them on possibilities that they may encounter such as structure, aluminum wire, lead, galvanize plumbing, asbestos or mold to name a few. This is explained in a way that does not "alarm" the prospective buyer but makes them aware of any possibilities they may encounter.
From an inspection point of view, the report is much more involved. Fire safety, electrical, HVAC, structure, and access are more entailed than a residential sale. This goes for multiple dwelling as well as a business of any kind. These reports have to be in line with the given areas municipal...

Look into ISN (awesome) Inspection Support Network. Check out ISG inspector services group. Make sure you have at least a shirt with logo and vehicle and that they match. To me the answer is simple! Stand out from everyone else. Offer more in terms of education, designations, offers and services. Affiliations with Inspector associations and certifications carries a lot of weight.
It takes time but Realtors have to learn to trust you. An alarmist will never make...

It takes time but Realtors have to learn to trust you. An alarmist will never make it in this profession. Truth explained in a calm rational way with solutions will win over clients every time!
Mold is everywhere so you are always exposed to it. I can personally say that I have not known anyone who died from "mold exposure". You can be sensitive to mold. The whole mold will kill you is overplayed in my opinion. Our job is to discover and report and recommend. The worse case scenario...

The worse case scenario again in my opinion is if you were to do a renovation of a mold infested room, removing the drywall and scattering it into the air without any PPE. If you walked into a room with mold or observed it in an attic you might get a runny nose if you were severely allergic. JMO
First of all you should have IAQ training to call anything mold. I always name it suspect organic growth and recommend testing but I call it out when obvious. Why spend money for a test that tells you what you already know. Depends on the situation, if in the attic the source has to be identified...

Why spend money for a test that tells you what you already know. Depends on the situation, if in the attic the source has to be identified ...usually poor ventilation, but can be a poor roof surface or a bathroom vent open into the attic.
Mold in other areas that is more easily seen can be explained as "suspect" organic growth. Anything under a sq meter (39 in) is okay for a home owner to remediate using a mask and "Mold Control" spray.
When material has to be removed such as drywall i would recommend remediation services. JMO
