I've belonged to several chambers, and all did nothing for me,, but I did a lot for them. They always seem to have their "hands out" wanting something for nothing, as I am a professional florist, and have supplied many chamber events with flowers at no charge to them, and no clients for me! These events were not small anywhere from 25 to 50 centerpieces, plus the time it takes to deliver, set up and take down (if the chamber members did not take them).
You also should remember that I am "a small fish in a big pond" as chambers tend to go after the big companies which makes them look good.
New members see those "big companies" as potential clients, so they sign up pay the big bucks to join and like most nothing happens for them. Those big companies members usually can not make decisions as they have higher up bosses or someone else who makes those decisions.
Small companies, you talk directly to the owner, who usually is the manager, HR person, accountant, and yes even sweeps the floors.
I'll get off my soap box now, but work with that small business person, and if you are going out to obtain new client's, Press the Flesh which means you go to xyz business shake their hand make eye contact and ask for their business. (save this for another day)

I do not know what business you are currently having a problem, but as a small woman owned business, this was my easiest way to work with my clients. And I own and operate 4 companies.
Please let me know how I can assist you and remember to "kill them with kindness" you would be surprised how that works!

Robin that is strange, as my accountant is also my husband uses Quick Books which opens into Intuit for our credit card processing. The only trouble we have ever had is a client told their credit card company (after 4 months) that they did not receive the flowers ordered. Which was not true, as we keep records of all transactions, from the order to a paid invoice and picture.
When someone orders from us, we first take the order on our own order form which is an excel file and all delivery and taxes are automatically figured out, when the order is completed we take a picture of the flowers, etc that has to be delivered, because we live in Arizona, which is warm or hot most of the year we will not leave them with a neighbor, at their front door, but we do a "curiosity call" and make arrangements when the receiver or if someone will be at that location. Because some of our arrangements are quite large, our delivery person helps by taking the arrangement into the location and placing it where the client would like to have it. Our delivery people even make sure that all the flowers are where they are suppose to be,,,, our client also knows the name of the delivery person who wears a name badge and the client does sign for delivery. Needless to say after 4 months and our detailed process he was charged. It pays to be very detail oriented!
After 40 years in this business one comes up against all kinds, you just need to be sharper than most people!
I hope this helps,

Each business is different and have different goals, projects, and should be designed especially for them, not just candy in a bowl, chocolate chip cookies, unless you are selling cookies, freshly baked cookies have a smell all of their own! But be specific for each booth, drawings are so "old" I know when we did a hot air balloon festival, each booth had something different, and the year before attendance was only 1,000 people, when we took it over, in a day and a half we had 40,000+ plus one of a kind food vendors, which sold out of everything on Friday night! But coming up with something different for each vendor does take time and you need to get to know their product. Let me know if I can help you with being creative,,, Judy
