(more) Ever since I became owner of Monkey Business Singing Telegrams I have made 'deals' with my clients.  In all fairness I did anything to make business work.  What does that mean?  It means sometimes giving away free services to a family who was in need.  It means calling people's children, husband, wife, coworker, teacher, Doctor or mailman to sing a special request.  It means going to the store to pick up a favorite ice cream, candy, wine, etc.  Bartering is something that I have offered.  Picking up money from people at their work, at their business are often things I have done even without this virus in place.  What I do not do?  I do not take checks.  I do not bill.  I get paid before or at the gig.  I am a service business for humans.  It doesn't matter what color you are, how much money you make or how many people attend your party or event.  People want to love on their friends, their family and their neighbors.  I commend people who are trying to get back to a normal and not walk in fear.  It is not easy but it can be done.  We all should celebrate more often.  Life is way too short!! My clients range  from very successful people to people on welfare.  It doesn't matter what they make.  We entertain all kinds of people in all communities in Charlotte and the surrounding area. I am here and I thank the Charlotte community for keeping me in business for so long.  Thank you! (more) Hello Joanna,   Thank you for including us in on your important question about the success of small businesses jumping back in the game.  For us getting back to entertaining seems easy yet there are practices that we must adhere to in order to stay safe.   If we are performing a singing telegram for any occasion; we usually do not go into the home.  The people either are having their party outside or we set a specific time to appear and the folks come to the door and we perform on the lawn, or the driveway or we perform a drive by performance.  We have worked with clients during this time to entertain during an organized culti-sac party, parades and family parties in the backyard.  When we perform a singing telegram, we wear a face mask.  If we are wearing a mask or costume; we make sure that each costume is cleaned before we go out.   The questions and answers get harder when the party transitions to larger numbers of people such as a festival, or city wide event or corporate event or grand opening.  Often we offer children's activities such as face painting or balloon twisting and balloon decor.  As we face paint; we put each brush for example in vinegar water in order to be cleansed and we will use hand sanitizer and wipes.  We have always done this before but the face masks, q tips and the possibility of using plastic gloves might be an option.    Bottom line:  It is the responsibility of the small businesses to take precautions and go slowly when it comes to offering their service to the community in order to stay safe and successful.  Best of luck to all and remember to put some "HAPPY" into your weekend.
