How does an OLDER women transition into an Office Administrator Assistant position when working in a currently unrelated job?

All excellent answers so far. I would add that when switching to general office work, employers look for excellent computer and communication skills even for a receptionist position. I suggest taking classes, bone up on your skills. Volunteer at church, school or library to gain some experience. One should know basic etiquette and practices of an office routine. As well, when interviewing for the office job, show that you are energetic, up-to-date with professional office attire and appearance. Mention that you are willing and anxious to learn or be trained. Good Luck!
