In my industry, I feel the number one cause of employee turn over is burn out. Too much is being asked of too few people, and there is no one to provide coverage to allow employees to take much needed and deserved time off. The solution is making sure the business is properly staffed and making sure every employees' heath and wellness is being monitored by having open lines of communication between management and the staff.

Adding a team member is actually creating a new team. If the team is performing well, it is crucial that the new person fit. One way to better assure they will is to have some current team members be a part of the interview process. Be careful, however, that everyone is not so alike that you end up with 'group think'.
