Yes, we could continue to stay indoors and order everything online and watch our local small businesses fade away. That would be a real shame. As a business owner I know the challenges, risks, sacrifices, and rewards associated with starting and running a local business. I know the joy of providing a much needed local service. Local businesses also provide employment and pay a hefty amount in taxes. We appreciate the support we get from our local customers, friends and supporters. We never take it for granted. Thank you for supporting our Main Street Community and local businesses.
I think seasonal hiring will be mixed. There is demand now for non or semi- skilled workers but jobs going unfilled. We are unable to find qualified candidates. I read that thousands of people are unemployed but the candidate pool doesn't reflect that. I expect demand to continue to be strong...

My motto is give more than you take. I like to connect with people that have similiar interest or a staffing need that I may satisfy. I like to have colleagues refer me to their contacts. This opens more doors and starts a relationship which can be nurtured. See how you can help others first....

Clients are still cautious and hiring mostly essential staff. Many of these openings have been open for a while and are hard to fill due to very specific skill requirements. We are finding candidates difficult to recruit during this unemployment phase.

We have great success with referral efforts and networking. Realtors are excellent resources for new people moving into the area. Social Media is a must.

All excellent answers so far. I would add that when switching to general office work, employers look for excellent computer and communication skills even for a receptionist position. I suggest taking classes, bone up on your skills. Volunteer at church, school or library to gain some experience....

As well, when interviewing for the office job, show that you are energetic, up-to-date with professional office attire and appearance. Mention that you are willing and anxious to learn or be trained. Ask them to give you a try and offer a satisfaction guarantee. You may have to forfeit a couple of deals but make sure that you get your product or service well honed in order to deliver what you say you will.... that is the key.

We do not compete on price but compete on value. We are transparent and consistent with pricing which builds trust and creates repeat customers. Seldom do we lose a customer due to price. Most of our customers are repeats. Our service is exceptional and we provide our clients added value. That is, we are a resource for our customers. They call us for help with human resources issues, salary and benefit questions, job market trends, etc.
Lowest price often equates to low service and expertise and can reflect desperation. That is, unless "lowest price" is your business strategy...then that is another situation altogether. That can work but a very different model. Don't try to be both as it confuses the customer.
