"I highly recommend CitruSolution! I have been using them for years to clean our carpets. They have actually saved me thousands of dollars in restoring carpets that I thought were ruined, but after they cleaned them, looked almost new. Very reasonable also! I refer them to everyone I know. "

I have to disagree with some of the input on here that states that nobody looks for an accountant/CPA online. My wife is a CPA, (owns her own firm) and I can attest that there are a LOT of people looking to Google to find a CPA that is local and highly rated. Of course, word of mouth will always be one of the strongest types of referral a person can get, but there are SO many people who use Google to do research on companies, and to see who is close to them. It helped that my company was a website design and SEO company, so I knew how to design and optimize her site to show up really well for general keyword searches on Google, such as "CPA Richmond VA" and 'Tax preparation for businesses, Richmond VA".
Her #1 source for new clients was from people going to Google, finding her website as a result of a Google search and calling her after finding that her site was a good match for their search. Asking her clients to leave a positive review on her Google Local page also helped a lot as it instilled consumer confidence as well.
On the other hand, I agree that a majority of Accounting sites out there are either really old, or not optimized for search engines, but it doesn't mean that people aren't searching. Times are changing and so are the ways that people search for things. While many of the "tried and true" methods still work today, you should not discount the fact that the millennial generation is getting to the age where they are needing accountants as well.
A great quote I heard a few years back... "Once a new technology rolls over you, if you're not part of the steamroller, you're part of the road!"
