Many small businesses share a common problem. As a business owner you most likely formed a corporation (S Corp, C Corp, LLC) for tax advantages and to protect your personal assets. This is a good thing. The problem is that you most likely funded or continue to fund your business by personally guaranteeing business credit. This approach comes with risks. Even though you are incorporated, should something unplanned or unexpected happen (economic downturn, sudden illness or disability, natural disaster, etc...), you are still personally responsible for the debt that you personally guaranteed for your business.
I help solve this problem by working with business owners to build business credit on their EIN and untethering them from their personal guarantees. True EIN business credit lines are usually several times larger than those that are personally guaranteed.
I lived in Los Angeles until July 2022. At times, L.A. was the epicenter of COVID-19 and the lockdowns were devastating to many of my customers. A few took out personal lines of credit after their reserves had run out, some took equity from their homes, and some lost it all. I was wondering how big corporations could survive while the independent business owners and franchisees, the backbone of our country, were failing.
As I was researching business credit for a customer of mine, I stumbled upon an article about J. Galt Finance Suite. I reached out on behalf of my customer and ended up having a long conversation with the Executive VP of the company. J. Galt was founded to help small business owners build true business credit on their EIN, freeing them from personal guarantees tied to their businesses. I had a very successful career, however, I knew immediately that this was something I needed to be part of. The rest is history, I am now part of the J. Galt family!
