We are hair dressers who have been in the business for many years, we love what we do. We have been in the Joliet and Crest Hill area for over 25 years, and love to make people look their best, and feel great about themselves. We also let you know what products to use and why, and show you how to style your hair when you go home.

Thank you for the polls and information you provide for us. I believe we all have essential business. Our businesses and jobs that we earn income from provide for us and our families. We are a Hair Salon that has less than 6 renters. We don’t all have the same hours. We could open safely and responsibly. We will inform the client before the appointment they have to come by themselves. We need them to wear a mask, we will also. They can bring their form of payment and their cell phone, the less they bring in the better. We would go by appointment only, take temperatures, have the client sign a questionnaire. Are you sick or last date of illness. Have you traveled, and so forth. We would meet the client at the scheduled time in the parking lot. Bring the client in the Salon, have them sit at the shampoo bowl or styling chair, 1 cape per client, everything cleaned and sanitized before the next client. We will also provide hand sanitizer and soap and water. We can distance the stylist and their client 6 feet apart. We will do less clients in the day with all of the steps we have to take but I feel it would be worth it. We may have more steps to follow that would be fine.

I’m a hair stylist and I’m part owner of a small Salon. We applied for the Covid19 Disaster Relief Fund through the SBA, as soon as we could. We haven’t heard anything either except for the money had run out. I was also denied unemployment. Small businesses are really suffering! I’m having to pay rent and utilities for work, as well as bills at home. I hope I don’t deflate my savings to go back to a business we don’t have any more. Our stay at home order goes through May 31. I feel so bad to hear all of these stories. I’m happy for the small business that received money. I’m not talking about the big business that claim to be small businesses. Maybe this new funding can help some of us. I pray we all get good news in the coming days ahead! Take care stay healthy and safe!

I find that if you ask your clients to refer a family member or friend it works. I offer five dollars off for the friend when they make their first appointment. Then when the client who referred them is in for there next appointment, I also give them five dollars off of their appointment. You...

You have a new client who was referred by a client who was happy with your services. That is something you can offer to any client.
We have a Salon with a welcoming open atmosphere with 6 chairs. We also have trouble finding stylists. We’ve run ads, signs, Facebook, word of mouth and Beauty Schools. Everyone that comes in doesn’t have a clientele or they work at home and don’t want the chair rental. It’s very difficult, times have changed. I find some younger stylists don’t communicate with the clients so they don’t retain them. They expect you to have a revolving door of people to keep them busy all day. Do you ever wonder why your hair looks great when you have your hair done in the Salon? Then you go home and use no product or the wrong product it doesn’t look the same. We recommend the products that work. I do not recommend store brands because I do not have the product knowledge for them or use them. I don’t only use organic products, I use what works for each individuals scalp and hair. Each persons head of hair is different. Always ask your stylist what products they recommend for your individual styling needs.
I miss small independent hardware stores, and restaurants. I like the personal service you get when they remember you as a customer. I also miss Marshall Fields and Carson’s.I always knew I could find quality items, if on sale for a good value. I also liked Kmart sometimes better than other...

I also miss Marshall Fields and Carson’s.I always knew I could find quality items, if on sale for a good value. I also liked Kmart sometimes better than other discount stores. Now we have to miss Hobo and Sears this year also. I’m not a fan of buying everything on line all the time.
