How We Got Started

I started as a collector of pattern glass when I was a child going with my mother to antique shops in Illinois. From there I branched into Carnival Glass, then china and Irish Belleek porcelain. Following a career as an administrative assistant, travel agent and realtor. I became an antiques and collectibles dealer opening a shop in Oklahoma City. I accepted consignments which led to appraisal research to value the property. I joined the International Society of Appraisers to become an appraiser. After going through the initial courses and gaining Accredited Member status, I began working to become certified. This required 500 hours of appraisal experience, five years as an accredited member and a 5 hour exam. Throughout my career I have continued to study product including two courses in ceramics with the Northern Ceramic Society in Chester, UK, attending ISA Seminars and webinars and other courses offered by ISA Chapters.

(more) I am converting to limited on-line personal property appraisals if the client can send me sufficient photographs and information for me to research and value their property.  Not everything can be done this way and this makes it a very limited use of the appraisal restricted to the client only and not for use by any other person. These are generally someone wanting to sell their item or just wanting to know if it is worth paying for an appraisal.  I'm willing to consult and give advice without values.  Normally when people are off work for holidays my phone rings with requests. Now it is only spam calls.  One client is waiting until we no longer have to self-contain. Their appointment was for March 24.  People are understanding and I am praying for God to end this in His perfect timing.

Often times I am willing to give advice but I can't appraise something I can't see.  Finding out the purpose of the appraisal can be difficult as the caller doesn't know why they want an appraisal other than what's it worth.  The values used to appraise the property differ depending on how it is to be used.
