Its not about which one, its about all of them and who their audience is. So The Chamber Of Commerce, and BNI (networking groups) are good resources. Your local newspaper - but an article about your business opening. Signage on your vehicle, uniform, even your bucket can have a logo on it. I also donate services to one or two local charities - your an active business person, and are part of a community
Its a long process, but if your good, reliable, and consistent; you will grow.
Good luck
When your out doing your thing, trying to build your business, perhaps the question should be, how to avoid customers not paying their bill.
One solution is to ask the customer for a credit card, which you keep on file and would not be used unless payment was not received at the time of service.

The question is how do I grow my business. There are many options/stratagies that you must be aware of, and evaluate. All decisions, boiled down is how much money can you spend, and how much time do you have to spend on these activities.
And remember, just because it worked for me, it may not work for you - different results.
I feel the following need to be evaluated:
Internet presence - not just a generic, non “eye catching, not maintained, and not optimized. If you are not a web developer, do not take on this task. For my business, my most consistent method of new customer acquisition.
Networking groups look me BNI’s and Chamber of Commerce are very valuable. But paying the membership costs, are just the beginning. Attending meetings and events is the way to achieve the best results.
Trade shows, fairs - having a booth at these events, where there is a lot of community involvement, where your using vertical banners, table aprons - eye catching graphics. You can see immediate results - receiving an estimate request, or you may receive a call at a later date. Again the decision will be influenced by the cost of the event, and amount of time the event is scheduled for.
Signage - graphics on vehicles, yard signs, brochures and business cards, customer give a way. If the customer can’t make out the name of your business, phone number and web address - beautiful graphics, too many colors- if they can’t see your message in a few seconds - it isn’t working, and you may have wasted precious dollars.
Do you have to implement all of things at once; of course not. But decisions of what you should be doing NOW, will be a decision based on everything that you know.
Get to know other business owners in your territory, and there’s nothing wrong with asking questions.
Good luck ..... Bob Tiilzer

There are a lot of things that have to occur when in business; and there isn't a single answer to your question.
Are you just starting your business? If you are, or course it is hard. Its all about visibility, and consistency. Ironically its all basic concepts.

BRANDING/SIGNAGE
1, Do you have a company vehicle? If it is a van or truck, it isn't all about graphics and vehicle wrapping. Its having the necessary information on the vehicle which is easy to read, and to write down. If it is a car, are there vehicle door magnets? Again, just the necessary information - company name, what service you provide, and a phone number.
2. Are your cleaners wearing a uniform, shirt, sweatshirt, jacket; if they aren't they should. Clean is important. Pants/shorts are worn at the waist
NETWORKING
Join and attend Chamber Of Commerce events. Join a BNI chapter. You must always be positive, even when nothing is going right! The people you talk to, don't know all the challenges you are dealing with.
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
Every job is important - the big one's and the small one's. Referrals are the best way to get new business.
INTERNET PRESENCE
When a customer Googles "cleaning", if your not on that first page on hits, its unlikely that a customer will see you. How is this accomplished< "Search Engine Optimization - SEO". This deals with how your website was designed and maintained. If "you" do not have the necessary expertise in this area, then you need a consultant to assist and maintain your presence on the internet. This is not a "one time and done" task; this is something that must be maintained.
Best of luck...

When starting any business, its impossible to adequately predict what money will be coming in; especially if this is a new business and your not buying an existing business, with existing customers, so that you have revenue coming in. Monthly recurring charges - rent, utilities, internet, insurance, payroll; have to be paid.
It is imperative that you have sufficient funds to keep the business running; until you have enough customers to meet all obligations.
It ain't easy; if it was everyone would do it!

Wouldn't it be great, that for every question asked, there was a simple answer. The irony of growing your business, is that what is successful for me, might not work for you. With that said, I try to examine all options, then evaluate their value; and then focus on those choices.

What are some of them - Networking groups, including Chamber of Commerce, BNI, and others. Often there will be a cost to joining a group, and again, what woks for me might not for you. I like trade shows and B2B, often associated with a Chamber of Commerce, for me - Home Improvement shows and country fairs. Signage - be it vehicles with graphics, signs and banners, uniforms. And always have your business cards with you - a lot of them.
You should remember that when a potential customer says no, you are closer to a customer saying YES!

You have to try them all.
It's not easy, but it takes time and dedication.
