FOA Families of Addicts
FOA Families of Addicts’ mission is to embrace families, friends, and individuals struggling with addiction in order to promote recovery, provide support, and encourage advocacy. The group holds weekly support meetings in Ohio (Dayton, Troy, and Springfield). Dates and times can be found on their Facebook page (facebook.com/FOAfamilies) or website (FOAfamilies.org). They welcome all family members, friends, and individuals in or seeking long-term recovery to attend. FOA also helps families and individuals navigate the system to access treatment and recovery options.
In a relatively short period of time, FOA has become a leader in the community raising awareness about the epidemic of opiate addiction and helping to reduce the stigma for those individuals seeking our services. We have garnered the respect of local media, local law enforcement, and government agencies, and other local nonprofits who have invited us to be their partner as we develop solutions to help with this drug epidemic in our communities
The founder's own recovery did not prepare her for the roller coaster ride of her daughter's addiction. FOA was created to help anyone touched by addiction learn from those that have been there and done that, families and people in recovery alike. FOA is huge on advocacy; our biggest event of the year is our annual Rally 4 Recovery held in August each year.
