About Us

The Kubek Photography Studio has been going strong since 1966. We do customized photography sessions with a creative output. Joe is a Master of Photography and a Photographic Craftsman. Degrees conferred by The Professional Photographers of America, in addition Joe was named Photographer Of The Year 5 times and his work has been in world class exhibitions. Now restoration of photographs is a specialty with prints having a life span of 200 to 400 years (Gicle'e printing). Restorations from old pictures that were 100 years old. The studio has been called a WIZARD, a photographic historian to preserve family images. He started doing restorations at the J.L.Hudson stores in Detroit in 1966.

How We Got Started

I found photography as a 14 year old kid with a basement darkroom By the time I Graduated from Western High, I had a professional darkroom and cameras (film) and longing to go to art school. My father said" Who is going to pay you to photograph them?" i replied I don't know dad, I just want to become better at it. But, off to engineering school I went and learned there is more to life than just making car parts. My real feeling was to follow my heart! Now I do just that, I live it every day. I get as much a thrill to create a beautiful image as I ever did. That's never left me. When asked RETIRE?, I reply NEVER!

We have Comcast at my studio. However I'm considering changing to WOW. Comcast has a fast line but poor in comunicating with us. I decided to take out one phone fax line that we don't use anymore. They were to remove the line and another request, but did not do it for the next 2 or 3 months and... (more) We have Comcast at my studio. However I'm considering changing to WOW. Comcast has a fast line but poor in comunicating with us. I decided to take out one phone fax line that we don't use anymore. They were to remove the line and another request, but did not do it for the next 2 or 3 months and were still getting billed . It was only after , my daughter, who spent over an hour to get to talk to a real person did she get some resolve for my studio. A credit was given with an apology. During that time I rec'd a letter from an exec. saying we were not charged for some upgraded equipment but would not get billed...but did, more confusion persisted. At my home, similar problems occured. WE've gott a credit rating in the high 800's, paid the monthly and then needed correction for billing errors. When ny wife got a person to talk to he was an idiot. He said to her, they could not get into our file until we paid the exhisting statement ,,,ugh gggrrrrr eventually we did get someone from Texas that finally straightened things out for us at my home. At home we changed to WOW.
