Whether a Reverse Mortgage is a bad product depends on the individual and their situation.  I helped my mother-in-law get a reverse mortgage over 15 years ago after her husband died and did not have the income to continue with the mortgage payments.  Luckily she had a lot of equity in the home and mortgage allowed her to continue living in her home until two years ago, when we sold the home.
