A great question! For us we set a Donation Budget every year, We always want to do something even if its not much. We wrote down a list of criteria that has to be met.

A great question! For us we set a Donation Budget every year, We always want to do something even if its not much. We wrote down a list of criteria that has to be met.
1. Must be Local! we have no doubt that national fund raisers help millions nation or world wide. For us we just want to keep as much of our donation where it effects our community directly.
2. We give preference to smaller events or groups. I guess because we are small at this point. So if an group walks in and there flyer says there supported but a bunch (more then one or two) big company's in town we tend to stay away. Because we feel our 200 dollars make bigger impacts on smaller events.
3. Who is befitting we tend to stick with childrns and teen evens as that is our customer base.
4. Are they a true non profit? we do research both id they are licensed as a non profit and what percent gets to what they are raising funds for. (if they have filed before)
There are exceptions...we try do donate to Bentlyville every year even if its just dropping 100.00 in the box. Even though thy are heavily corporate sponsored. but giving a free Christmas event for kids is something every one needs these days.
