About Us

At Cape Cod Office Consultants, we provide you with the best possible solutions for your growing business needs. With over 20 years of I.T. and Business Consulting experience, we know what it takes to keep your business running smoothly and handle any issues you may have.

How We Got Started

After working as the IT Manager for 15 years at a multi-million dollar company, which was bought out by the parent company, I decided that I was going to take the skills I learned there and use them to help smaller businesses operate and grow just like a large business does, without the enterprise costs.

Every new client is a new adventure. When either myself, or a member of my team, walk in to a business for the first time we like to learn about what makes YOU tick and how you operate so that we can better serve your individual needs.

We like to be more than just the IT person. We want to be part of the team!

We offer multiple levels of protection from Gateway Security Appliances to Remote Management and Monitoring for our customers.  Data loss can be a big problem with small businesses.  I have seen companies go out of business from a small data breach.  Nevermind a large one.

What platform are you using for your eCommerce?  There may already be plugins available to do what you want.  If not, a PHP script could be written to do what you are asking for.  PM me if you want more details. How should you charge in a situation like that?  I've been doing IT for quite a while now.  There are times when I know the solutions before I arrive based on the customer's vague definition of what is happening.  When you arrive and the fix is a simple click here, click there and a reboot, you are literally there 5 minutes and it took longer for you to get to the location. I guess that is where the "mimumin charge of 1 hour" rule comes in to play?

Having multiple full backups and doing incremental backups will help prevent your data from being lost.  At most, you will lose 24-hours of work if you do a nightly backup, none if you are doing the backups in the middle of the night and you figure out that you have an issue first thing in the morning.  It is a lot less expensive to recreate 24-hours of information than it is to pay the ransom to "maybe" get your files recovered.  Remember, these are the same dishonest people who encrypted your files in the first place.  They are under no obligation to honor their side of the bargain by giving you the encryption code.

Then you have the human factor to contend with. Especially with BYOD being very popular.  I install what I call "Gateway Security Appliances" for my customers.  It is much more than a firewall and it inspects every packet moving in and out of their network.  Those packets can then be allowed or denied based on specific rules that are sometimes set on a per-company basis.   The more valuable your data is, the more secure you need your network to be.
