Great question!! I totally understand and as someone who had her own business for 20 plus years it was something I encountered quite a bit. Really to be honest, networking is something that can look very different for each person. I would suggest writing down a few ways of networking that you have tried, or seen others try and ask what feels like the path of least resistance or what lights you up the most and just start there. What works for one may or may not work for another that’s why it’s important to listen within to what feels right for you and just be willing to take the next inspired step! I hope that is helpful! Looking at some of what people have suggested, as well as what things you have tried or are curious about do you most feel drawn to explore in relation to attracting more clients who are excited and ready to hire you for your services?
For example, do you like the idea of promoting online or in person better? A suggestion I have when exploring your options is to identify how you want to "feel" when you have the clients and work that you want. Are you wanting to feel joy, or freedom, purposeful or abundant, excitement or ease, fun or happiness?? I'm sure you want to feel all these things but what's the highest feeling you want to feel. The reason this is important is it will help you to make decisions along the way. Because what we may want is more clients, but what we also want is the feeling we believe we will have when we have the clients.
ALso when you are looking into different options, before diving in you can ask yourself if this is the best next step in promoting your business. If you get a yes, go for it! If you get a no, ask what would be the best next step and then listen for what you do feel inspired to do towards promoting your business! I look forward to hearing how things unfold for you!!
