I have a skill to hear sounds and correct error pronunciations made by immigrants. I can hear mistakes and know where and how they are made in the mouth of the foreign speaker of English. I can hear and help the speaker use the correct speed and intonations, plud many other speech mistakes quickly to make effective Canadian-sounding English.

I was getting my car serviced one day and I started to go to the cash. However, I was waved over to a man with a clip board and papers. I asked what he needed. The man was a newer immigrant and I did not understand a word her said! I asked him three times to repeat what he said and understood nothing! I turned to walk toward the cashier and a bright light of understanding 'said,' "I can teach those people how to talk!" So, I put together some materials and advertised in the weekend paper that I could help newcomers speak clearly. A few people answered my ad and I started to teach and help people to settle more successfully in Canada.
