Be sure to get a cyber insurance policy from a well rated company. Ensure that you understand the policy and if it covers payment of ransom or not. Most do not. Be sure you understand under what conditions the policy is null and void. Example. The policy may say that if you don't have your network and computers up to date and fully patched, your insurance protection is prorated. Finally, ensure that you engage experienced professionals to harden your network environment. Firewalls, antivirus, and anti-spam are just a start. Look into proactive network scanners that monitor for unusual network traffic. I know I may sound a bit fanatical. But I've been involved in rescuing multiple customers in the past 2 years and the hackers are getting even smarter. Now they infect your network and your backups for days, weeks, or possibly months before triggering the encryption. And when you attempt to restore your backup, you find it's useless. A very scary scenario and very, very real.
