About Us

Wil has practiced law for over 45 years, most of which were in bankruptcy law and litigation for debtors and creditors alike in Chapters 7, 11 and 13. He previously served as staff attorney to a Chapter 13 Trustee, was in-house counsel, engaged in all collections, foreclosures and bankruptcy activities throughout the State of California.
Wil previously represented automobile and mortgage lenders, and he was a collection attorney in State and Federal Court litigation and servicing compliance under State and Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Acts.
Wil is former Chapter President of the California Trustee's Association. He graduated from California State University, Los Angeles. Thereafter, he obtained a Juris Doctorate Degree from California Western School of Law, where he served as Managing Editor for the International Law Journal and received an Award for Service and Contribution to the School.
Wil has been admitted into the United States District Court for the Central, Eastern, and Southern Districts of California. He successfully argued cases on appeal before the 9th Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel and the Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District.
Throughout his career, Wil has been moderator, lecturer, and panelist on numerous State and Federal Bar Association conferences. He has also authored a number of articles in various periodicals.

How We Got Started

Wil's law practice in California began as an in-house attorney for an international contractor in Anaheim, in charge of all collection and foreclosure activities. Thereafter, Wil was a sole practitioner, then one of six partners in an 18 attorney firm, as creditor and debtor bankruptcy counsel in West Covina. He then was of counsel at former President Nixon's law firm in Whittier, handling bankruptcy matters. Wil then served as a staff attorney for a Chapter 13 Trustee in Los Angeles. After serving as the supervising attorney for a collection firm in Montclair, training collectors regarding compliance under State and Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Finally, he relocated and joined the Pacific Law Firm in La Jolla, CA, following which he joined the Doan Law Firm, in Carlsbad and founded its office in Downtown San Diego. Finally, Wil joined the Doan Law Offices in Chula Vista, La Mesa and Escondido offices.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, the CARES Act allows us to stretch clients, who filed their Chapter 13 cases and their Plan was confirmed pre-enactment, we are able to stretch the maximum number of Plan payments an additional 2 years.  That is particularly important for those who miss their Plan... (more) With the COVID-19 pandemic, the CARES Act allows us to stretch clients, who filed their Chapter 13 cases and their Plan was confirmed pre-enactment, we are able to stretch the maximum number of Plan payments an additional 2 years.  That is particularly important for those who miss their Plan payments in light of reduced income post-confirmation.  We also regularly obtain mortgage loan payment forbearance agreements, relieving clients of their current mortgage payments for, typically, 90 days.  For those who have missed their past mortgage payments, we have negotiated as much as 12 months to repay them, along with their current mortgage payments.
