Rustic Mountain Charm
Rustic Mountain Charm was established in March, 1993 in the Park Theatre Mall in Estes Park, Colorado. The business was created to provide “Lodge” style home furnishings, accessories and gifts. In August 1996, it was expanded to a second location at 165 East Elkhorn Avenue.
On January 24, 2002, Kathleen George purchased Rustic Mountain Charm which included two (2) downtown locations. She continued creative buying in an effort to find high-quality, unique merchandise that had been the main stay of Rustic Mountain Charm since its inception. The potential for continued growth was enhanced by the move from one of the original locations to a new location at 332 East Elkhorn Avenue in Barlow Plaza which was in an up-scale shopping and dining area on the “main street” of Estes Park.
In January 2005 the present home for Rustic Mountain Charm was established at 135 East Elkhorn Avenue in the former Seybold’s building. Both Rustic Mountain Charm stores were combined into one space that had the square footage equal to the two separate locations and offered the opportunity to remodel one of the grandest old buildings in downtown Estes Park. Rustic Mountain Charm is honored to be only the fourth business in this 107 year old building.
Kathleen is originally from Kearney, Nebraska where she was educated at the University of Nebraska at Kearney in Geography and Travel Tourism. She made Estes Park her permanent home in 2002 when she purchased the business and is now the proud owner of the grand “ole” building that Rustic Mountain Charm calls home. Kathleen’s husband, Charley Dickey joined her in the operations of the business in 2009. Charley came from a varied entrepreneurial background as an owner of a government contracting company and a property developer/contractor. Together they blend areas of expertise and interests and enjoy working together at expanding and improving the business.
The staff is a vital component to the success of Rustic Mountain Charm helping to create a warm, friendly and helpful environment that has attracted and maintained many loyal customers around the country. The friendships made have been a great reward and it is our hope to continue a vital presence in downtown Estes Park for many years to come.
