Even if you pay all your taxes, an audit can result in lost time, expenses to defend yourself, extreme stress, and possibly the IRS freezing your accounts until things are resolved. Audits can be done on anybody, and it's a miserable experience. That's why people are freaking out.

Well, the CPI doesn't include food or energy. And it uses a ridiculous estimate for housing. Perhaps some things are slightly less expensive, but the necessities of life are all WELL... (more) Well, the CPI doesn't include food or energy. And it uses a ridiculous estimate for housing. So, like many things told to us by corrupt politicians, the idea that "inflation is down" is just another lie. Perhaps some things are slightly less expensive, but the necessities of life are all WELL above the 2% annual target. And conveniently changing the definition of a recession doesn't change the fact that we're in one.
