I've found by offering workshops and doing presentations, that's helped people understand the difference between a bookkeeper and all other financial tools they need. I also built a referral village-bankers, FAs, business attorneys, and others in related markets. If I can't get to a client directly, those referrals help me get to their clients. Sometimes it take someone else to explain to the client why they need you!

(more) Yes, for either inability to pay on time, misconduct, or shady business dealings. It's not an easy decision to make, but at times you have to know what your worth is. Unfortunately, some clients just aren't worth the time or the money. You've worked hard to get yourself to a certain level, and that kind of poison is unnecessary. Offer stellar service to clients who appreciate it, and you'll always be successful!
