There are many ways. You can get feee forms from the IRS or buy then in the store. If you are using a payroll service they should do the forms for the employees. There are also services like Track1099 that will do them or your software will do them.  Note you are a little late as they were... (more) There are many ways. There are also services like Track1099 that will do them or your software will do them.  Note you are a little late as they were supposed to go out by January 31.

Different people may have different definitions but I look at a bookkeeping as primarily entering transactions into the system.  Accounting is really understanding the data to make recommendations for the business. Accounting would also be preparation of tax returns and financial statements.  I... (more) Different people may have different definitions but I look at a bookkeeping as primarily entering transactions into the system.  Accounting is really understanding the data to make recommendations for the business. Accounting would also be preparation of tax returns and financial statements.  I am differentiating based on work not title because in many states only a CPA can be called an accountant but a "bookkeeper" with knowledge and desire may due accounting functions other than tax returns.  Hope this helps.

(more) I am not a lawyer but I specialize in working with law firms on billing, accounting and practice management software Some things I would  say they need (depending on systems using) - 3 way trust reconciliation and make sure trust bank and liability accounts tie - matching of income if using separate billing program - Reconciliation of advanced client costs - If needed reports of fee allocation based on originating, responsible and/or time worked - if use flat fees, flat fee analysis reports - whom ever is responsible for billing should be running AR and WIP reports
