I draft a complete “person” before I begin writing. It can take a few days to make them come to life. When it’s time to write their storyline (yes,I outline) you already know who they are and how they will react to a given circumstance. Some of that has to come from your experiences, but I like my characters to be organic and not follow a real person entirely. Hope that helps!
