About Us

As a Certified Professional Soil Scientist, Pennsylvania-Certified Sewage Enforcement Officer, and a PSMA/NOF Onsite Wastewater Treatment System Inspector, I regularly perform soils and groundwater-related evaluations. The types of services that I routinely perform include:

* Soil evaluations and percolation testing for onlot septic systems
* Soil morphologic evaluations for shallow-limiting zone and drip irrigation systems
* Evaluations to support sewage facilities and subdivision planning
* Preparation of sewage facilities planning modules
* Inspection and evaluation of failing and/or malfunctioning onlot systems
* Design of conventional and alternate onlot septic systems
* Stormwater infiltration evaluations

When I was in college, I determined that I'd never be involved in the onlot septic business. However, over the past 25 years, I've come to see the important connection between onlot systems, the soils that support them, and the homeowners and businesses that rely upon these systems. The services that I provide play a significant role in resolving issues and in providing viable onlot solutions for families and business that don't have access to central sewage.

Properly sited, designed, and maintained septic systems help to ensure the quality of the ground and surface waters, including well/drinking water that is vital in rural areas. Ultimately, functioning septic systems and clean drinking water sources allow my clients to enjoy the quality of life that they desire, and that brings me satisfaction.

Do you have a troubled septic system? Do you have challenging soils or a difficult site? Give me a call and lets consider the options together.

How We Got Started

I've been fortunate to have worked for some really great firms, yet the thought of going on my own had been one that my wife and I had considered for several years. In particular, I really wanted to focus on helping individuals and other small businesses navigate what can often be confusing requirements related to testing, design and permitting of onlot sewage disposal systems. Considering that these systems represent a significant monetary investment, my other desire was to provide honest service for a fair fee. This transition has taken some time and a lot of prayer, but I've been encouraged by the overwhelming support that I've received through the process.

I recognize that God placed the desire to do this in our hearts. So I pray that He might be glorified through all that we do here at East Penn Soil Consulting and that our clients might be blessed through our services.

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things accomplished.

This gives me an opportunity to show them the soil profile and discuss with them how soil characteristics play a role in renovating effluent and in determining the type of system that will ultimately serve their project.  Clients that better understand how the soils and their systems function have a clearer picture of what's really happening in the ground after their system is constructed.
