About Us

I am a lawyer who handles bankruptcy cases, represents home owners associations, helps commercial and residential landlords and tenants and many business owners. We bring creativity and experience to finding cost effective solutions to business disputes. I use my mediation and litigation experience to position clients for favorable results that are fair and sensible.

I prepare contracts, agreements and many other documents. I help buy and sell commercial and industrial real estate and equipment.

I assist troubled businesses. I also try to prevent home loss when there is a foreclosure.

I have 40 years experience.

I employ an excellent paralegal and also a talented bookkeeper

I like to speak to groups about law, handling money, dealing with business issues and how to make a business profitable. I also write about legal issues and trends that can help my clients and the general public. My main focus are my bankruptcy cases.

How We Got Started

I like the challenge of solving difficult legal problems and enjoy helping others. After 40 years, I still enjoy my work and learning how to solve new problems. I like repairing problems that seem overwhelming to others.

(more) We are seeing troubled businesses reach out to our law firm for dealing with reduced cash flows as if there was already a recession. The SBA opened a web site on Friday where businesses with even bad credit may be able to get loans at low interest rates and longer terms to survive this  uncertain time. I urge any one in business to check out this site. This is a time to contemplate how to survive in the short term and thrive in the long term. Someone once said a crisis is too good an opportunity to waste. At my firm we are not happy about the difficulties we see but a slow down or halt should create a space in time to think about what is really meaningful.  For the people here at my law firm it is family, friends, and finding new ways to help others. Stay positive. We need not fear. We have seen worse times in the past. Hurricane Sandy is just one example.  We owe it to ourselves and others to be smart, keep calm, carry on safely and to protect each other's health and safety.

Keep track of how profitable your work has been to your employer and how much they are losing when the frustrate your efforts. Save all emails. In my law firm we have a joke that the 'e' in 'email' stands for 'evidence'. Properly handled , judges and juries get to see this. I would begin leveraging my contacts and identifying targets for future employment with a 1-3 year horizon for moving on.  Do this on  a  system that is under your sole control. Do not take anything that is unauthorized like company secrets or customer lists. Above all else, speak with an employment lawyer in your own state to get proper advice about how to leave. When you do leave  it is better to leave gracefully and without any animosity since you do not want to give the soon to be ex employer a reason to sabotage your future. You should remember it is better to decide when to move on than to have it forced upon you. Pay down any debts, save money and have the flexibility of not needing to earn if you are some how forced out.  Businesses infected with nepotism breed incompetency and have a way of self destructing. Families are wonderful but not all members should  work together. Good luck with this.

Since I do not know what state you are in and Landlord Tenant law is different in each state , I can not give you any further guidance. The situation has gone beyond asking nicely for rent you are not being paid. Be sure you ask the lawyer about fees and costs and if you can recover them from your tenant. You may want to speak with a Legal Aid or Legal Services attorney to see if you qualify for low or no cost legal help.

I think 2/3s of my work could have been avoided by good planning and frequent commincation between business owner and attorney. I practice only in NJ.
