Hi Casey, this is such a great question! In line with what Ruth mentioned, I think employee selection here is key. There are certain personality and social traits that successful remote workers tend to have and preferences that “traditional” workers don’t. For example, think of integrators versus segmentors, as well as individuals who need more social affiliation versus those who don’t. Conducting pre-employment work based assessments would be beneficial here. Focusing on leaders is good, but also on team members, especially if some work in office and others out of office. Lastly, incorporating the right technology, trust, and specific policy for remote workers.

Jose, I have to admit I have not seen the terms integrators and segmentors. I will do looking to make sure I really understand them in this contest. One thing that came up early on in the implementation of remote workers is the impact of OSHA and State worker liability laws/regulations as well as accommodation for for various situations., etc.
