2019 was a difficult year overall. The beginning started slow but then it started to pick up momentum and by the end of the year I had a successful year. Mostly when it came to lending, I had my highest gross in the past 5 yrs. I am anticipating 2020 to be just as good.

As a business owner you have a knowledge of certain parts of the business. Som you know better than others. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from employees that might know other areas or have ideas that could help the business grow or expand.

You should also act as a leader with your employees and not a micro manager. You will get more production and better buy in from them if you let them feel a part of the process and not just a cog in the wheel.

The part I like most about my job is being able to help people who are looking to improve or grow their business. I help in many ways, either by making the banking experience easier and nicer, or I help by saving or making them money. The part I like the most is when I get to give them the funds they are looking for to grow the business, whether that is for buying a property or equipment or getting working capital for inventory or slow times during the year. It makes me feel good when the client tells me I have done a good job.
For me it is just a matter of asking questions. Weather it is lending or just depository, I am always asking routine questions about how the business operates and what are their struggles, once I listen to all of it I then make some recommendations. Those recommendations are based on what the...

One of the best sales I had was when a solid client of mine was declined for a product at our bank and after talking to the underwriter and explaining the circumstances we approved the deal.
