Well asking AI to take over design work now is like asking an infant to run an olymic marathon. AI is to young. But that won't always be the case. be patient it is coming. Just not yet!
There is a quote I believe it says something like:
"I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes."
I genuinely believe AI will eventually be able to do what you mentioned, and I am not only talking about the creative side from all of the process, but actually be the one who can do the heavy lifting, and I believe the 1st phase of AI is take on the creative side.

It is easy to outdo AI in creativity. Taking the cover image of the article as an example, that is not creativity. That is a pastiche of things that have been done hundreds of times before. The issue that AI brings is that most rendering is not a 'creative' activity. We tend to call image work 'creative'. AI will prove much of it is not. The humans doing it are trying to create systems to facilitate quicker turn around. All that work to facilitate efficiency is now playing into the 'hands' of AI and will be easily copied by AI. AI cannot handle real invention. The same for 'design' which is mostly repeating similar things. Architecture is much harder to make because it is about human feeling and meaning, and not random off the shelf. Again, many practioners will be copied. The need and valuefor actual human knowledge will increase.
Hmm. I assumed it was AI, i.e. the transparency on the trees and the randomness of the leaves on the ground. My response was more general. The elements of the building in the image can be put together from many other buildings. They are pretty standard. The green part on the left looks like construction hoarding. This is an example of what AI would easily be able to replicate in terms of its content. Maybe it cannot do it yet, but this is the kind of project that will be done first. Of course developing a plan is maybe not going to happen early, I am referring to the rendering based on inputs. It overlaps with parametric programming, becoming a kind of 'smarter' version. I had better bow out here because I am not an expert in the software. My interest lies in the question of what AI could do creatively. Building production, yes. Architecture, in a very circumscribed way as a tool only.
