I make the normal things that a business does with its money into a story. Either the money they spend is helping the company become a better and stronger company or That we have learned another way to not do something. Then at year end, I report that progress to the IRS.
A typical day in tax season is answering peoples questions over the phone, checking email for information or updates from clients, clients "dropping off" their documents, clients setting up appointments over the phone or from text messages or emails, working on accounting and or tax returns - or both. Also calling to confirm appointments or asking for more data/information. Cups of coffee and a little sleep in between........
I usually start with email so if anyone has contacted me by email I can get back to them right away. Then I start working on my accounts that need my attention. I check to see if any information needs to be passed on to customers and anything I might need from my customers. The rest of the day is spent doing reports or taxes depending on the time of the month. I try to spend at least 1hr doing marketing and some blogging if possible. Then check emails again before stopping for the evening. I try to check email at least 4 times a day so no client needs to wait to long.
It really depends on the time of month. If it is payroll time, I process payroll. If not, I enter bills and receipts that I received from my client. I also pull deposit reports from their POS system and enter them. I also process bill payments twice a month. If it is end of month time, I spend numerous hours reconciling accounts and processing reports.

At this time of year? What do you think? We are chained to our desks working on clients, both business and personal.

Taxes :)
A typical day:
8am - 2pm are new client calls/meetings, or working on current client projects.
2pm - 5pm typically meeting in person with clients.
5pm - bedtime home juggling kids and work, while posting ads to find the right, knowledge and fast, employees
There’s some GAAP in between
