I offer factoring/invoice financing. Although it is a financing option that has been around since Biblical Times, people have a mind set of 'I want a loan.' To explain that this is faster, and does not incur debt on your company, plus, in today's world, a lot of businesses can't get loans. It's an simple transaction, which improves Cash Flow, but getting people to understand it is a huge challenge.
It is tuff to do business in Orland Park, with the road closed in front of my store. 104th has been closed over two years, this is making it very hard to get new customers.
After being a business owner/operator for 26 years now I have had many challenges over the years but nothing like what I'm dealing with now! There comes a time when an industry becomes so saturated that it's hard to stay in business and make a living! I have well over 6000 competitors in a 15 mile radius so the best thing I have going for me is my reputation and the amount of time in the business I have. That and my die hard loyal clients keep me going as well their word of mouth. More money going to advertising is not the answer as everyone has a website now and so many of my competitors have only been in business long enough that the best way for them to fill their day's is to undercut however all that is doing is killing the entire industry! Eventually they will learn that working that cheap with the overhead in this business is so high that you think they won't be around long but I haven't seen that happen yet!
My biggest challenge has betting over my nervousness and fear of speaking in front of people. As i do cold sales i have to be secure in everything I am saying and doing, no matter how the person receives what I am saying. Also have had to do big presentations in front of large groups, this was thr hardest. Still not 100% in this area yet.
My biggest challenge I have with being in business for myself is that I try to please everyone to the fullest they want to be pleased. Not saying this is a bad thing, but when your a perfectionist, “perfection” I cant just let go. Being trained as a Registered Nurse working in the CVOR “Cardio Vascular Operating room as a scrum assistant to the surgeon there is no real margin for error or the patient dies. I still have that trait drilled into my head even with my Contracting company. So to to say the lease something that is off square by.05 degrees, I would make it so it was exactly 90 digress. To answer your question I am my biggest challenge.
As a business owner of a nonprofit organization one of the biggest challenges is getting people to understand that small need financial support, volunteers and quality donations to continue outreach programs. Hunger relief is a main thrust for Village Family. The demand continues to outweigh the resources. Village Family is seeking to assist everyone who comes for assistance, as well as expand and enhance services. Village Family also provides an outreach referral service to encourage businesses and organizations to unify to build the community bond. "If we can come together, so much more can be accomplished." "We are small with big hearts to give". Those who come for the food include homeless citizens, single parents, senior citizens, and those who are just experiencing financial hardship. We desire quality items similar to the items that we provide to our own families. "One of our concerns is that when people come to us, we want to have the resources available, but we also want them to leave better than they were."
Tango Firearms Academy, LLC has been in business for 5 years. I am a small business, with a limited marketing budget. Trying to find cost effective marketing avenues can be challenging. I utilize several free on-line marketing services such as Alignable, LinkedIn, Referral Key and Facebook. Although these networking services have provided a few clients, I still struggle with filling classes sometimes. I have recently stepped up my efforts, and these efforts have increased my inquiries.
The biggest Challenge is to form your exclusive collection of products, but the investment is on the display and materials was a challenge.
I notice that small business we need to have capitol, to promote the products and we fell short sometimes. I would like to take a small loan so I can promote all the products by participating in 3 trade shows per year! That will be very nice investment to great sales and contacts. That is now my challenge
As an independent business consultant - I find that too many time's owners become swept into working in their business rather than on it. This inadvertently leads to holding themselves and other's less accountable and it isn't until their profit margin drops drastically that they realize they need help quickly. Working in the business an owner can get caught up getting things done by letting the small things slide - until all of those little things add up to some costly dollars and cents. By the time I am consulted to give an account overview, owners are wanting miracles. I find that I have to set out a solid consistent plan of getting them to a happy baseline while setting out realistic goals showing increasing profit based on plans tailored strategically to their individual businesses. This is done by balancing their market, by providing sound realistic expectations and holding everyone within the business accountable with metrics rather than semantics.
Challenge : Becoming so involved in working "in" the business - owners can loose sight of whose working "on" The business. Helps to have an outside source ensure that everyone's accountable and sticking to outlined business plans.
