My biggest challenge has been wearing the many hats I do wear. I paint in oils, teach classes in my home, and do the paper work and marketing of our business for both my husband and myself. The knowledge comes with the doing of it, and capital comes from the fruits of doing it, but I've never gotten a handle on time management. Thats my biggest challenge
As a "Female" business owner, one of my top challenges has been "fitting in" with the boys in the club. To this day it's an uphill battle to not be treated differently as a woman and to instead be treated as an equal and a peer.. The Telecom/IT industry is historically male dominated. Most of my competitors underestimate my knowledge and ability, and mistakenly count me out . I have learned however to use that to my advantage. I am able to do that because I don't have a big ego, always take the high road, and always, always do the right thing for my clients. Honesty and Integrity cross all barriers and shine though in the end.
I have also used my gender to take part in the many opportunities that are set aside for Women Owned Businesses. There are thousands of government, both federal and non-federal, set-aside bids every day with set aside quotas for woman owned businesses. I would be happy to share my knowledge with any (at least 51%) woman owned businesses.
My advice, find a way to turn a challenge into an advantage. And remember, "No" means find another way to make it a Yes!
Biggest challenge is designing advertising on the computer, ie, flier, special that are pleasing to the eye to grab attention. Small blurbs for social media, Customer private page.
Another is having my customer actually refer my services. They love their result rave up and down. But keep it to them selves. I am a referral based business.
Really appreciate all the replies! It seems that many misunderstood my original answwer. Those are in fact challenges but they all can be overcome ! You just have to be persistent in your quest for success.
Lack of capital is always a challenge for any small business, and even harder foe a strat-up. But I have not let that deter me. My business is coming along just fine.
To find the time to connect with and explain how we can benefit the clients of other businesses that have contact with families struggling with meeting the needs of their elder and/or dependent family members.
The phone no one uses it anymore if you text it sounds rough and if you email well its sometimes goes in the trash. I have started contacting clients on chat and some respond and some have gotten phone calls and then respond.
I just try to be myself. I feel if they like my work when they need me they will let me know.
Some clients only want photos every 2 or 3 years. That means that you are always looking for new clients.
I have a client base of 500 I need 1, 000 to be in the Black!
Challenges have been educating the importance of having a brand identity versus having just a logo. Your brand identity is the most important strategy your business needs in order to be seen, be heard, and be remembered by your ideal client or customer. Your brand is the foundation and engine of your business... the marketing (which includes several things such as your website, email marketing, facebook ads, etc.) is the vehicle to drive your business. Without a strong brand, your marketing will not run well.
