How do motels find/court corporate/business travelers?

I'm curious.

I suggest starting Google Ads. It has the power to give you exactly what you need thru keywords that are related to your service and goals. If you link it to your Google Profile ( Google My Business listing) then you definitely will stand out from competitors! I say this not only as a Google Specialist but also a owner of motels in Brazil. 🔥

Most large hotels have a sales and marketing department that market the hotel's amenities and sales what the hotel has to offer such as space, guest rooms, and meeting and convention space, as well as any technical and banquet functions that are available for gatherings.

Probably the best return I have found is networking thru community groups, and thru existing guests.  If a guest has been to your hotel several times, and the sales staff does not know their name and their business, then something is not working as it should be.  The sales staff, or the managers should be a constant presence in the lobby during busy times.

Volunteer! I am the Chair for our local Heart Walk and I get to interact with a lot of companies, hospitals and associations.

Investigate the company and find what things their business travelers look for when staying at a hotel and try to meet those needs as well as a good price

Check with your local Tourist Office to find out what future events are taking place in your City - respond to the events that you think would suit you best individually and send them a proposal - it's more difficult for motels, since most of them don't have a conference room - you also need catering services - being a B&B owner, we get quit a few business people - mainly because after a stressful day, they like to stay at a nice and peaceful place with a comfortable bed and a great Breakfast -

There are a number of travel agencies that deal with specifics market segments. My advice would be to start by googling some of these agencies. Reach out to tourism in your area and find corporate events that are being brought to your area and reach out to them before they find their own destination. I find that with corporate groups the amenity needs are greater in respect to business needs.

The only corporate business we get are the Nuclear travelers due to our resort being so close to the Point Beach Nuclear Power plant and offering them a great rate and nice clean place to stay and I have direct contacts within the plant, and sometimes we get corporate travelers coming for Packer home games and we only have a one night stay vs. 2 night minimum which Green Bay, WI has.  When Green Bay hotels sold out we fax over our availability to the hotels there to send guests our way.

There are not many motels left in our society. The correct generic term is hotels as most are inside entrances and have a central lobby/service area.
