Blogging is incredibly important. It helps you narrow down what your focus is, and puts all your expertise in one spot.  Your customers will find you because YOU are the defect expert on that niche area and you'll be able to prove it through your writing. I know it's tedious, but it can be incredibly helpful to prospective customers and existing customers.

I blog to support my clients.

I usually blog when I learn something new that I think might be helpful to my site visitors and my clients. I use the process for ranking my website as well. I encourage all of my clients to blog as well, it's good practice and forces you to stay on top of your game. I have multiple blogs on my site in fact - keeping them niche focused and Google friendly.

Here's a couple of ways to use your blog if you need motivation:

1) Re-purpose your blogs as newsletter material.

2) Use the Blog RSS Feed to automatically post your blogs in your social media sites

3) Look for keywords you're not ranking for and blog with those keywords as the theme

4) Blog your FAQ's - Ask a question and then answer it

Agree with Eric — blog posts are key in terms of SEO and don’t make them useless info or simply posts that sell your services.  No one wants to read that — make them USEFUL and HELPFUL in your industry. Nothing is worse than junk posts that serve no purpose but to pat yourself on the back. For company news and positive press, use press releases and then mention those within effective blog posts and company news sections. Remember that WordPress was built for blogging — to not have a blog is always an odd choice.

I have not written a blog to support my business for some time, mostly because my business is not of the type that benefits from it much.  However I have seen many who have that type of business that  seem to have benefited from blogging a great deal. the trick seams to be getting your well written and appropriate blog in front of the right eyes. Any blog is only as good as it is received and to be received it must be seen and it must be seen by the right people.

all of the fancy words on all of the internet pages in the world are useless if the author is the only one who reads them or is the only one who cares. .

In our market, I find blog posts only help keep your site ranking well. Since we cater to our local market, we tend to share other expert opinions on social so that it doesn't sound like we're tooting our own horn.

In my business as a web designer it doesn't really fit into my business model. I do provide several white papers and an FAQ section filled with info that clients tend to always ask me about.Whenever I update these pages with new content I see surges of new views and google ranking increases which in the end besides conversion to a business win is very important for your business.

If you are in a service industry or specifically an industry like personal trainer, life coasting, etc a blog provides your site with a continuous update of new site content, pushing up your search rankings. But with the blogs comes a heightened need to monitor the content and conversations so they don't drive away business so be prepared for an increased demand on your time away from the business to monitor the blog.

Currently we do not write blogs, but we are incorporating them into our outreach this year. Blogs are another form of value based content marketing. If you couple that with consistent video content, it will allow you to build the like, know and trust with your audience and they will inquire and think of you first.

Of course.  Who would write a blog that did not support their business?

Hope this helps!
