We do. We manage several dozen implementations of Wordpress. For content marketing purposes and for e-commerce, it's hard to beat. But I don't recommend pushing it too far beyond that. It's not an application framework, and it often gets treated as such. Typically, any work not involving posting web pages and blog posts should be developed independently of Wordpress.

I've been developing WordPress sites for over 15 years. I have done everything with WordPress from simple to complex including custom developed plugins and many other applications. Although it has its security issues, with a good firewall and software updates, most hacking can be prevented. I think WordPress is by far the best content management system for versatility and user-friendly management.
I've built over 300 websites on WordPress and its a solid platform. It's also flexible and has a lot of things you can modify. It's hard to find website functionality it can't do and with the amount of developers out there, you have an easy time finding a web person familiar with WordPress
Yes, we've been running our website on WordPress for about 9 years, and also manage over 100 client websites, also running WordPress. We've also designed, developed and manage several eCommerce websites built with WordPress and WooCommerce. We love working with WordPress, and although there is a learning curve, lots of great WordPress 'how-to' blogs, training videos, and WordCamps are available. It's basically awesome!

Most of our clients request their sites to be done in WordPress, because in general it is probably one of the easier CMS (Content Management Systems) out there for site editors to use (comparing to other platforms like Drupal, Joomla, DotNetNuke, and others).
Marketing Agencies generally prefer to work with WordPress websites because there is a variety of available plugins (free and paid) that they can install and use for marketing campaigns and SEO work.
If you just want to do blogging, content edits and minor website adjustments, then WordPress is probably the way to go. If you want to really go in and do a lot of visual changes, then you may be better of with a visual builder type of web platform like WIX, but there are downsides to these platforms, you don't "own" the site, are forced to host with them and sometimes you don't get the performance you need. There are some visual builder themes that work for WordPress, but you have to be careful which one to use and make sure it doesn't compromise site speed or security.
The downside of using WordPress for your website is the security and updates that are required. We suggest that you have a person or service that makes sure your WordPress website is backed up, updated and running on the latest plugins so that it is secure and prevents it from getting hacked. Most of the time a web editor/owner can do them, but sometimes a site can break when updating.
I am of the opinion that if you are serious about your online presence, you need a monthly budget to keep your website updated and secure, and WordPress is one of the better and easier platforms to use for that.
