Does anyone know anything about free phone numbers from Google. If so what is your experience with that and do you recommend that?
FB is recommending that I not have my phone number for calling and texting on my 2 FB business pages. Does anyone know anything about free phone numbers from Google. If so what is your experience with that and do you recommend that?

I have used Google Voice for many years with no issues. The only issue I have had lately was when trying to set up a number for a client - there were none available with our local area code. Also I am not sure why FB would recommend not using a phone number. I have had my number on my FB page for over 10 years.
Check out CallFire.com. You can get new numbers, even ones people can test to, easily.
Have had one for about 4 years and never had a problem.
Hi Victoria, I've used Google Voice for many years and have zero problems with it. I can recommend it.
If you are not on the Google Fi network, just go to voice.google.com and sign up. You can set up a forwarder to any phone number, even get an app for your phone and call from that app. This way you can do calls similar to Skype, just without seeing people.
If your phone is on the Google Fi network and you already have a phone number assigned to your Google Fi account, the app option won't work.
I've used Google Voice even before it was Google voice. It was originally Grand Central. It's a good option for a second phone number that rings though to your existing cell phone. As an option, consider Magic Jack. You can run Magic Jack as a completely separate phone line or forward to any phone you'd like (it becomes the cheapest 2nd phone number you can get from my research). Another benefit of Magic Jack is the ability to make calls from outside the US. Just plug the USB jack into your computer and as long as you're on the internet, you can call home from anywhere in the world without any charges.
I use Google Voice for my business number and love it. When a call comes in it get's redirected to my landline and cell phone. If I am left a voicemail it get's transcribed to text in an email. I have an Android phone which makes it easy to call someone or send/receive text messages using my Google Voice number.
I'm using Google Voice as my business number and it's working great. It's local, redirects to my mobile phone, receives texts and voicemail, and I can call internationally without added costs.
Yes, we use a couple to forward calls from the area codes we serve. They work great.
