How has your response been when trying to connect to fellow Alignable users? What has been your most effect script you have used?

As I have read some of the responses, there are those who have difficultly in just answering the question, but feel it is important to show their personal importance. If you don't have a good answer, don't answer. Keep it simple.

Eric, when I post a question for assistance I've been very fortunate to receive positive feedback. Much success in your business.

I feel the response here has always been very positive. Questions seem to get quality feedback, even when there are very differing opinions. I would say that using a "script" is missing the point a bit. No script necessary, just an honest question or answer, or connection with a personal message. If you want to actually connect, versus hit a certain number of connections, then forget about a script. Good luck!

I would recommend being active in the forum and Q&A as we are in businesses of all types and can really help each other.

So far the connections have been a bit tenuous....not really a connection that aligns with the work that I do so it hasn't been of great benefit for me so far. When I do get a connection I do what Matthew suggested, do a little research on Facebook and/or LinkedIn. LinkedIn usually provides a better professional overview. If it seems like a viable match I reach out and try to connect to see if there's something that we can do to support and work together. We all know this business is about making the right connections and sometimes the oddest connections turn out to be of great benefit! For example, I work with Colleges and Universities to do consulting on compliance and regulatory issues. One connection is a placement counselor for upper level management in Nursing programs. It turns out that one of the biggest reasons schools need new Nursing Directors is because of issues with compliance and regulatory problems in the programs. So it was a good fit for us to work together to support each other.

I use, "Be my friend and I'll pay you $100." (just kidding)

First I READ their page, then their Facebook page and/or LinkedIn page, then if they have one I check their website. Though this is socially designed it is really a fantastic idea for local business type networking. If we take the time to know who we refer, refer them with confidence and they do exceptional work this idea can be the new "go to" site for finding the right person nearby for the right task. Building a local business community is critical in the new Internet world. It could actually put trust back into using the net to find the right and respectable person or company. I just hope we can all refrain from making this all into one big over hyped pitch about ourselves. The ability to question here and to review on their page (recommend) can help push us all towards acting the most honest andprofessional (without those two terms conflicting :) )
