I bought life insurance policies for my children when the college debt that I co-signed was incurred. I will continue to keep them insured with term life policies, which are very affordable, until the student loans are paid in full. The security this affords me is certainly worth the small investment!

But the way I look at it, is that I felt so passionate about the need for life insurance that I decided to make it my life's work. The amount needed is all dependent on an individual's situation. Too many times I have seen individuals who are very successful in life, but are disasters in death because they leave their families destitute and unable to continue their legacy because they did not think that life insurance was an important use of their cash.
I have Life Insurance on myself, my spouse, and my children. It is very important and best to get when you are young and healthy. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer shortly after redoing my policies to better suite my current situation and provide extra money for my boys. I beat the Cancer, but am now Uninsurable for 5 more years. So glad I got mine reworked when I did. My sons policies will not only provide them Life Insurance but also future income.
Nowhere near enough people carry life insurance. I thinks everyone needs it. I have it on me, my children and grandbabies.
Nobody wants to have to worry about how to bury a loved one. This takes that worry away. Plus for some it financially may set the family up for a while until they can get life going again from there.
