How to Create a Network of Raving Fans

These tips can help you build a bigger network of business owners and also stay in front of the ones you already know. 

1. Post an event or promotion

One easy way to stay in front of your network is to update them on what’s happening at your business. Are you hosting a networking event to bring more awareness to what you do? What about holding an end-of-summer promotion to transition customers into a new season?

Whatever it is, you can post it on Alignable so your network stays in the know. They’ll see your post on their feeds when they sign in and can spread the word to others. Even better? We’ll email your network and local community with your events and promotions, so you can reach more people with ease. 

Here’s how to post an event or promotion:

• Sign into Alignable
• From the main screen, click “Write a Post” 
• From the dropdown menu, select either “Add a Networking Event” or “Share a Promotion”
• For a promotion, add an image that showcases your deal along with the title, start date, and description. Then, decide if it should go out to your network, your community, or if you’re Premium, Nearby Communities.
• For the event, select whether your event is in-person or virtual, add an image to promote your event, the title, start date, location (site or physical address), and details. Then, check off if the event should be seen by your network, community, or Nearby Communities. 
• Click post.

Now, your event or promotion is live on your feed, so all of your connections, community, or both can see it. Easy, right?

2. Share your expertise in Groups

Another way to grow your network and stay top of mind is to share your knowledge with a group. By answering other members’ questions, you can show your expertise, build your reputation, and reach new members. 

To get started, browse groups to find one that fits your area of expertise. For example, if you’re a social media guru, you might want to join the Social Media Support Group. Then, you can scroll through the discussions in the group and answer others’ questions about how to best use social media to grow their business. 

After you answer a member’s question, shoot them a Connection Request so they can join your network. After all, you never know where that new connection can lead. They might reach out to you next time they need help or pass your name along to others in need of your services. 

Just remember, aim to help others in your responses, not to promote your own business. Your expertise will shine in your answer, setting you up for success down the road.
