I run my embroidery business out of my house. What is the best form of advertising when you don't have a store?

Social media, either Instagram or  Facebook, even better do it on both.  Take pics of every single job you do and post it. Also, ask your clientes to share a pic in their pages.
Social media advertising is always an easy and relatively effective way to reach potential customers, but you'll want to have a solid understanding of whom you are trying to reach, both in demographics and psychographics. Depending on your target customer, you could network locally with sewing and craft stores, local chambers of commerce, schools and sports leagues, or even cheer or dance studios. If you're looking for larger companies, you can try LinkedIn to reach companies that offer all that swag stuff, as hats and sometimes shirts need embroidery.
Get shout outs from your past clients.  I sell a whitening toothpaste and when you have your clients post on their page, you get business! I would be happy to talk to you about it and help you write a script for your clients to post! I would also love to do a shout out for you in exchange for you doing one for my small business.
Set yourself up a Google Ad Words pay per click PPC account.  You can probably find a YouTube video that will explain how it works and how to set it up.  It's not difficult and there's no long term commitment required.   It will drive prospective customers to your website while others will directly contact you.   I like it because I can geographically target counties within an hour or so drive.  I've tried Facebook ads but haven't been impressed with the results.
Our best results have been hand drawn flyers distributed with in a 5 mile radius. We are an
ad agency and can assist you.
You need to be found on-line on search engines, aggregator sites, and social media. make sure you communicate and stay in touch with your current clients so they don't slip away. It is important to make sure you are easy to do business with. What I mean is in today's world it is very important to make sure you are available clients can reach out to you when it is convenient for them. I could show you some ways to do that with simple easy to use software.
Thx

That will depend on who you are looking to target and how you want them to purchase. Social Media seems the obvious answer, but often doesn't generate leads as quickly as some folks expect--especially if you are growing organically and not pumping money into it. Social Media success depends on you having an interested following which takes time to build, requires ongoing engagement and management, and even then may not result in a strong purchasing base.

What is the nature of your embroidery? Details and appliqués for fashion? Patches? Wall art? All of the above? For an art/craft based business, my best suggestion is to have some sellable items pre-made and in stock for which you have already established an appropriate sell price, a winning business card, an order form for custom work (both available online as form and/or downloadable PDF from your website, and printed to keep onhand) and invest in either running or sharing booth at local events such as art & wine festivals. People attend those events looking to buy arts and crafts and it's a great way to showcase your work and pass out some business cards. Depending on the nature of your embroidery, also consider dropping off small stacks of business cards along with a small sample of your work at local tailors, dry cleaners, bridal shops, (assuming embroidery for clothing) etc. and meeting them face to face and introducing yourself. But really, go introduce yourself any local business that would be an appropriate "power partner" for your craft, and then do a gentle/casual follow up with them every month or two.
Simple three tier approach.  You’ll need customers now (you can do this using digital online marketing), brand reputation management, and customers later using search engine optimization.  Marketing doesn’t have to be hard to get results.  If you need help, reach out!

I highly recommend contacting Joyce Jagger, The Embroidery Coach.  She will teach you how to market your embroidery business plus help you with other aspects of your business, if you so desire.  She has over 40 years of experience in the embroidery business and had her own shop.  She does charge for her services but her prices are reasonable and she is worth every penny.  She has tons of videos you can access (once you pay) so you can learn on your own time and speed as well.  Just Google "The Embroidery Coach" and her info should pop up.   I have been working with her for over ten years and my embroidery business has skyrocketed.
