Answer: every area of the business owner's life & work. Over the 18+ years I've been coaching professionals from every state in the US & more than 40 countries, I've been privileged to help them succeed as THEY define it - which is the essence of coaching. We work on identifying where they are, where they want to go, and how to get there. Then we take the journey together. Though that sounds very nebulous, it is in fact done very effectively through a great deal of attention, intention, and execution.
Your question also elicited an interesting mix of answers which quickly distinguished those who coach from those who advise. If you want to know more, hire a consultant. If you want to do more, hire a coach.
Coaching is a process, not necessarily a solution. A good coach should help you identify specific focus areas, but not every coach is ideal for every focus. Good coaches bring perspective to help you see what you can't see, and they typically come with some expertise and experiences that you haven't (yet) had. For example, a leadership coach may not be very effective in supporting your marketing, just like a marketing coach may not necessarily be the best leadership development resource. While I believe coaches are essential for any business owner who wants to grow, the trick is finding the RIGHT coach for what you need. I'm happy to chat by phone if you want to discuss your situation specifically. I know a lot of coaches in a lot of different specialties.
In all areas. Not to be oversimplified in my response but it is accurate having been a business owner and a mentor for more than 25 years. The more useful questions may be 1. what is the greatest challenge or goal that you need resolved in the immediate time frame 2. who can do the job with you as a coach or consultant to get you there. If you ask the typical coach this question, you will get the following responses 1. a blank look OR 2. they will try to answer with no information from you (bless their hearts as they want to serve you) OR 3. they will put the question back on you because they understand that coaching is a relationship not a purchased service by itself.
Coaching can help you in all areas of your business and in life. I teach people the laws of success and it transforms your thinking.
We have been taught to live from conditions and circumstances instead of living from what we want. There are specific LAWS to success and once you understand them and get inline with them it becomes EASY! If you want to take your business to the next level and beyond knowing and applying these laws are essential.
There are 9 principles in building a successful and profitable business. Small businesses begin with a person who unerstands the technical portion of a business. The baker can bake. The architect can design, however, it is the lack of knowledge on Moneysystems, employee training, lead generating, marketing, lead closure, delivering on the promise, leadership, communications, and exit plan. These are the areas where I coach small businesses. Here's the kicker: "My fees cost you less per month than a new full-time employee!" Contact me for a FREE discovery talk!
According to Forbes Magazine, the #1 investment you can make is in YOURSELF. Why? You don't need to reinvent the wheel. A business owner can save time, money, and resources with the right support. They can save energy used on trial and error. The most important factor in determining if a business is successful or not is MINDSET. There are businesses that are seeing diversity as opportunities to solve problems, support their customers, and increase their value and bottom line. Bssically in two ways being 1) practical business structure and processes to help him/her achieve his/her goals and 2) expanding his/her self-awareness, as everyone sees a reflection in their various relationships (including in business) of their consciousness aka their belief system. Of the two, increasing self-awareness is far more powerful as an agent for positive change in the business, and in the business owner's life generally.
This is a great question. On one hand, it's pretty straight forward - accountability and awareness... on the other... it's a question every business owner has to answer for themselves...
I help my clients build an All-Star performing team. Each client has unique set of needs in different areas...
Every business owner treats their business like their own child. This is great!
Every owner naturally treats their employees like a prom date for their daughter... this is not so great.
How can we as coaches help them transition from "ownership" to "infleunce"?
From vision to strategy to engagement of leaders, managers and direct reports, coaching provides the opportunity to align them with the help of a trusted professional. Whether in the corporate setting or in the individual development needed to operate in excellence, engaging a coach is a powerful answer in how to take next steps toward growth.
