VAT in Europe is very similar to HST in Canada. It is a fancy euphemism for a sales tax. You should if you do a lot of services in Europe register because there is an imput tax credit available which if it applies limits the tax that must be remitted. This is especially true if you have commodities and to a lesser extent if you have services which you are supplying.
