I chose state regulation but in reality, it's municipal regulation. About 25% of the businesses in my community are home-based entrepreneurs. They make up a significant percentage of the homeowner community but our city government regards this group as a potential threat to the city's "quality of life". I have taken lots of classes about the QBI, Qualified Business Income, and how it works, we are all still confused just like the IRS.  I have done some tax planning with my business clients, telling them how the QBI, might help them but warning them that until the law is written, it may change.  Even the IRS is confused with all these changes, 2018 will be a challenge for all of us. I started my business before the technology allowed for virtual bookkeeping.  For me, being able to take care of clients in the cloud has meant I can work around my schedule, be accessible on their schedule, and keep their books clean.  There has been a transition, and you still need someone to upload documents or answer questions.  But, again with technology, we can video conference for review meetings.  I've built my practice by taking the time to know my clients  and...
