Is Social Media an effective method of reaching potential new clients of the "Boomer" generation?
Presumably there is a different use of web search functions with people of different age groups (with each advancing decade of age).

I'd grind a bit finer on boomers - it is a few decades. My older sib at 60+_ finally learned to text and yes, she loves FB. I'm the youngest (1962) and use a lot more web and software than the elder sibs. Product is also factor - tech stuff? I'd use more social. But for a home, car, large appliance or even a gourmet shop? I'd still pursue direct mail, hyperlocal free magazines, even radio if the format and ratings rock.
Social media is great but you still have to do your homework. It is more than just having an age group to target. You need the whole buyer persona in detail. You will also need a budget - social reach has become a pay to play arena.
Yes. Definitely. But choice of platform or service is important. For sure, establish a presence on Facebook. But it is very important to be a player rather than a bystander or onlooker. Offer advice in your area of expertise. Be responsive. Don't be a lurker...make a name for yourself. Make it easy to find your attractive and well developed website. Establish your business as the local outlet or representative of popular brands. Have friendly and knowledgeable staff who like helping people. Make every visit by a potential or actual customer a pleasant experience to the best of your ability.
FB is "the" most effective way to talk to Boomers online.
Absolutely!! Social media is great for almost any age group😊
Absolutely it is. If you're not social networking with them you're missing out.
The only one I know about is Facebook, which has so many Boomers that the kids are abandoning it because their parents and grandparents are there.
Yes, Facebook is big for Baby Boomers:

“Notably, Facebook is the most used platform for 55-year-olds and older. They spend an average of one hour and 48 minutes daily on social media networking.”
“As of January 2017, 9% of all Facebook users are aged 55 and above — 5% are female and 4% are male according to Statista. Interestingly, in the U.S., there are more Facebook users from the 65 and above age group than those in the 13- to 17-year-old group. Out of its two billion monthly active users, 10% are boomers, while only 3% are from the younger demographic.”
Understanding what type of platforms your target market is in is key here. It may not be whether social media is best as a whole but which platforms are appropriate for your industry and target demographics. If we take Facebook as an example, based on internet users, 72% of 50–64 year olds and 62% of 65+ year olds use Facebook. This is a huge number of missed client opportunities if you choose not to take that into consideration. You just have to make sure your messaging & product offerings are adding value to consumers in this demographic.
Create Videos with your target age group (you have no videos on your website) streamline it to FB Live - Boomers scroll slow and steady. Create a promotion for senior discounts. Boomers LOVE coupons - get creative and post a coupon online. Think of "social media" now as social communities -
