I've been fortunate in that whenever my computer went wonky, I was able to solve it. So, aside from an occasional phone call to some techie types, pretty much never, so far.
We have an in house IT person for our office the covers the day to day hiccups. Because of his knowledge of computers and our internal system, 95% of issues are taken care of immediately. There has been only a few times when we have had to go to our outside person to fix an problem.
Never... I'm a Network Engineer. If I needed someone then I must not be that good. LOL! Seriously... if you are in the medical field or deal with customer/client personal information... don't do it yourself. If inspected you will get dinged and fined because you're not a certified technician. HIPAA compliancy is not a joke. But, you can giver a go and see how far it gets you. haha

Not often, perhaps once a quarter, however when we experience a problem we always need help immediately!
Lucky for us we have an in-house tech. Most of the time our systems run very smooth.
