What is the best platform for nonprofits to accept donations?

We are looking for a good provider to use for taking donations across the internet. It would be great to have a simple landing page that is accessible via a link for people to donate to our nonprofit. Any suggestions and wisdom are appreciated. :)

It really depends on a number of factors. Early on we used PayPal but abandoned it as our needs to connect with donors increased. We then switched to a third party vendor (Network for Good) but we didn't have great touch point with our donors.

You can set up a separate system for donor and funds management or have a combined system. Currently, Orphan World Relief is using Aplos.com (cloud based) service for both funds management and donor management. For some of our events (i.e., team fundraising efforts or to allow groups to help us out) we use Razoo.com. It has some great features but isn't our primary way of accepting donations.

Although there are a host of other options out there for you to choose from these days. They all have advantages and disadvantages. But it's not going to be a "one size fits all".

We use Salsa and I love it.

You create the event or donation or whatever on the Salsa Engage platform and add the link to your website.  People click on the link to donate and the system automatically adds the donation to the Salsa CRM (the database where you have a record of all your constituents and their donation history)  From the CRM you can send out thank you notes, print donation letters for income tax purposes, etc.

There is a set-up fee to get the database software and there are monthly usage fees but it is well worth it.

Good luck!  Christine

I suggest you go through Network For Good. Yes they take a cut but its a transparent transaction that is what your donors want to see in my opinion. It also provides donor tracking and is also the same vetting company that Facebook fundraiser uses as well.

We use paypal on our website.  I do understand that there are opportunities through Sales Force and Facebook as well.  Best with your progress.

  • Check
  • ACH payment
  • Cash
  • Paypal
  • Credit card

  •  We use youcaring.  It doesn't charge you a fee other than the normal credit card processing fee so you get more money from each donation. Very simple to set up and  easy to use.  We've even hadparents set one up and gift the donations to us by a feature on youcaring.

    We use PayPal exclusively for several reasons:

  • The money is available immediately;
  • The fees are among the lowest of the platforms;
  • The donors can designate funds easily to specific uses, programs, sites through the “Message” feature, and
  • PayPal makes putting a link on your site simple!
  • We use the Canadahelps platform and it works great for us.

    Hello I personally can tell you for us it is PayPal it's easy and fast and we get 100% of the donation which is huge and PayPal seems to be very secure we have never had any problems in over 9 years so for me it's totally PayPal, hope this helps and good luck !!!
