I am a parent of a child with disabilities, even though she is older, she still requires a lot of attention. My husband wants me to work and he just had surgery a month ago and he is almost healed. His mom fell and broke her knee cap in two places and she requires help. I am being pulled in different directions.

I do three jobs including my primary profession. They are closely connected. Besides being a civil and business litigation attorney I am also an insurance coverage, claims practices and bad faith expert witness and thirdly, I am a mediator. These three professions keep me busy and provide both extra income, satisfaction and mental challenge. I wouldn’t have it any other way. 

Rachel's Creations is my primary business but most of that work takes place on weekends so I also do house/pet sitting on the side and am about to start another p/t job 3 weekdays/week to get out and earn some extra income too!  I'm told this new "lifestyle" is called "patch working" - would rather have 2-3 little jobs I love vs returning to the county/corporate world.  Sadly, a bit part of why I have to do this is to afford self employed health insurance but it's worth it!  

Aloha, our bottom line flexes with the economy and affects our small business enterprise in Hawaii and beyond!  I believe the industry we are in determines the flexibility of our profit margin. My real estate investments have kept me aligned in my business since 1998.  I truly understand  the endeavors we excercise to stay afloat and the determination is heartfelt! Let"s Imua together!! Besides being a semi retired attorney, I also referee high school basketball and girl's fast pitch softball.  Keeps me healthy and gives me the extra "littles" that we look for in an extra income.

Having a symbiotic side business that compliments your business is always a great idea for added income, but having a side interest that generates income is a winner!

A PLAN 'A' is great, but your success may need a PLAN 'B' and PLAN 'C'! Just have FUN!!

I took the poll and it showed that the largest per cent of respondents (39%) were 100% dedicated to their business.  That number makes sense to me.  About 30-40% of independents are fully dedicated to their businesses. That is about the per cent that also achieve stable revenue streams and profits to sustain their business.  It is the top 30% who sustain growth and the top 8% of independent businesses that sustain growth over $1 million in gross revenue.  Commitment to your business is important to growth.   

There are many reasons people start businesses.  Financial demands have to be met which makes a side hustle is totally appropriate.  Some people just like variety and run a number of different businesses.  The advantage of being independent is the flexibility as long as you meet fundamental needs.  Celebrate the freedom to be independent!

As a self employed artist, regular side gig is a must have to help with never ending cycle of bills.

In addition to selling and making art, I teach art privately, and offer presentations in the local libraries on art and meditation. 

Having a secondary income is the only key to getting ahead these days. I work full time as a Marketing Manager as well as being an entrepreneur with shop.com. My goal is to quit my full time job and just concentrate on helping other people achieve their financial goals too!
